We adopted Piper from Homeward Bound in Minnesota in December 2003. She was picked up as a stray in Indiana and worked her way north through a series of rescue groups. We chose her because of her calm and happy demeanor - and those amazing blue eyes! No one knows what she is - we know German Shorthaired Pointer, and maybe Greyhound, Husky, Weimereiner... who knows?
She LOVES treats, and she loves chasing bunnies, squirrels and the deer that frequent our neighborhood - or just sitting inside and staring out the window at them.
She is such a pleaser, but at the same time she has learned to work us. Every time we feed her, she wolfs it down, then runs to us and licks our hands as hard as she can as if saying "Thank you! Thank you!" On the other hand, she's not supposed to be on the couch, so she comes to bed with us and lays on the bedroom floor, but the second the light goes out, she gets up and goes to the living room to sleep on the couch. If we get up, she hops down quickly and stands there right next to the couch, with a look on her face like "Oh, hey, hi! Just standing here. Yup. Just standing. What's going on?"
